The Mil Mi-28 is developed to meet the demand of a Russian army requirement for a new close air support helicopter, main competitor is the Kamov Ka-50, until now no choice has been made between the two.
The five-blade main rotor is mounted above the body midsection, and short, wide, tapered, weapon-carrying wings are mounted to the rear of body midsection.

  • 460 km (with standard fuel).
  • 1.100 km (ferry range with reserves).

  • One NPPU-28 30 mm cannon in under nose turret.
  • four underwing hardpoints can carry an ordnance load of 1.920 kg.
  • typical configuration: two rocket pods, and up to 16 9P149 Shturm C (AT-6 Spiral) radio guided tube launched anti armor missiles
