The Tag der Bundeswehr (Armed Forces Day) in Faßberg is one of the central events held by the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) at various locations across Germany each year. Faßberg is particularly well-known as the base of the Transport Helicopter Regiment 10, which operates aircraft like the NH90 transport helicopters. On this day, the Bundeswehr opens its doors to the public, offering insight into its work, equipment, and daily operations.
Since we were in northern Germany anyway for Friday and Monday’s Tigermeet spotter days at Schleswig Jagel. And at the weekend there was nothing to do there! We decided to go to the Tag der Bundeswher at Fassberg airbase on Saturday. Here are the results of a nice day spotten.
- Flight demonstrations: Since Faßberg is a helicopter base, there are often impressive demonstrations featuring transport and combat helicopters like the NH90 or CH-53.
- Military vehicles: Presentations of land vehicles and specialized military equipment used by the Bundeswehr.
- Information booths: These provide details about the Bundeswehr’s missions at home and abroad, as well as career opportunities.
- Interactive activities: Visitors might have the chance to step inside helicopters or military vehicles and participate in simulations.
The Tag der Bundeswehr is not only an opportunity for families and technology enthusiasts to learn more about the military, but it also serves as a way for the Bundeswehr to promote transparency and explain its national and international missions.
