The Yakovlev Yak-3 World War 2 fighter plane made his first flight as I-30 on 12 April 1941. The second prototype crashed during flight tests and was written off. Although evaluation aircraft flew in combat, the first series Yak-3s did not enter operation with the 91st IAP until July 1944.
