Due to a large staff shortage, Schiphol Airport was extremely busy in the summer of 2022. Travelers stood outside for hours waiting in lines for security and sometimes missed their flights as a result. Many flights departed late or were canceled and thousands of suitcases became stranded at the airport. On top of the staff shortage came a strike by overworked employees.
