The 2016 event attracted a record sell-out crowd of 153,000 visitors across the flying weekend, with several thousand spotters attending the Monday departures. More than 230 aircraft representing 37 air arms from 24 countries participated.
Display flights featured the international debut of the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II, alongside the USAF F-22A Raptor, Turkish F-16C Soloturk, Swedish JAS-39C Gripen, and French Rafale C. Aerobatic demonstration teams included Italy’s Frecce Tricolori, Switzerland’s Patrouille Suisse, and Croatia’s Krila Oluje. The French Air Force Ramex Delta tactical duo staged their final career flight in their Dassault Mirage 2000N fighters.
Monday departures highlighted rapid launches of tactical jets, transport aircraft, and maritime patrol platforms, including the Japanese KC-767J, Royal Australian Air Force KC-30A, Pakistan Air Force C-130 Hercules, and German Navy P-3C Orion.
